MICHAEL HARRISON
Michael Harrison is a seasoned South Carolina trial lawyer with more than two decades of experience representing businesses and individuals in high-stakes disputes across the state and federal court systems.
EARLY CAREER
Known for courtroom confidence, candid counsel, and earned authority, Michael didn’t rise through the ranks — he worked every rung of the ladder. Entering the legal profession in 2000, he started as a runner and steadily built his career from the ground up, serving in nearly every role along the way: paralegal, clerk, associate, partner, and firm owner. That path ultimately led him to co-found Harrison Pillinger in 2025, after more than 26 years of hands-on legal practice.
Michael’s early career steered him into some of the most demanding casework and courtrooms in the country. Before becoming a lawyer, he worked as a paralegal on the 9/11 team for an international plaintiffs’ litigation firm, then moved through medical malpractice, product liability, and construction defect work — gaining a ground-level understanding of how complex cases are built and tried.
After working his way through Barry Law School, his experience expanded into insurance defense, immigration, real property, and complex business disputes. Today, Michael brings the perspective of someone who has practiced from nearly every vantage point of the profession — both in the courtroom and in the business of law — representing clients across state and federal courts in matters ranging from everyday disputes to cases involving tens of millions of dollars.
That breadth of experience isn’t something you’ll see boasted on a billboard — it’s what informs his judgment and drives his discipline. A reputation built, not branded, he is grounded in the belief that clients deserve honesty, clarity, and a lawyer who is prepared to go the distance without unnecessary posturing or empty promises.

Today, Michael’s practice is focused on business litigation, contract disputes, construction defect, and real property matters, with selective personal injury cases accepted through trusted co-counsel.
Much of his work centers on helping business owners, developers, and individuals protect what they’ve built and resolve disputes in a way that makes practical and financial sense — always with an eye toward return on investment and realistic results.
While many attorneys avoid the courtroom, Michael is in his element there and prepares every case as if it may ultimately be decided by a judge or jury. But, for him, trial is a tool, not a default. Candid about risk, cost, and likely outcomes, he is just as willing to resolve a matter through strategic negotiation as he is to litigate it if or when necessary.
Michael believes trust is built through transparency, not inflated reassurance. Clients value his rare balance of candor and care alongside a clear intent that they leave in a better position than when they arrived — with a full understanding of their options and confidence that their problems are no longer theirs to carry alone.

Outside the office, Michael is a husband and a father, roles he considers his most important. Born and raised in South Carolina, he resets in saltwater and sand — surfing, boating, and spending time with family along the coast he still calls home. Those Lowcountry roots shape how he practices law: steady, grounded, and focused on what truly matters when the stakes are high.
